Gap Analysis Project for Chongqing Auto Parts Suppliers Launched Officially

Under the direction and support from Chongqing Municipal Government, Chongqing Economic Commission, Chongqing Foreign Trade and Economic Relations Commission and Chongqing Personnel Bureau, after three months preparation by SPX-CQ, Gap Analysis Project for Chongqing Auto Parts Suppliers was launched finally. The expert team, which is composed of experts from Automotive Industry Action Group (AIAG), DaimlerChrysler, and Ford Motor Company, arrived in Chongqing on the 12th, November. The launch meeting held in the afternoon of the 13th, November in Hilton Hotel announced the official start of the one-week Gap Analysis Project for Chongqing Auto Parts Suppliers.

The six selected Chongqing auto parts suppliers for gap analysis are: Chongqing Zongshen Air-Intake System manufacturing Co., Ltd., Chongqing Zhongyi Shock Absorber Factory, Chongqing Chaoli High-tech Industrial Company, Chongqing Jiaxuan Automobile Sealings Co., Ltd, Chongqing Changhua Automobile Wire Co., Ltd, and Chongqing Xiyuan Camshaft Co., Ltd.. The expert team was divided into two groups: one group carried out gap analysis against DaimlerChrysler's supplier assessment criteria on Chongqing Zongshen Intake System manufacturing Co., Ltd., Chongqing Zhongyi Shock Absorber Factory, Chongqing Chaoli High-tech Industrial Company, Chongqing Jiaxuan Automobile Sealings Co., Ltd, and another group carried out gap analysis against Ford Motor Company's supplier assessment criteria on Chongqing Changhua Automobile Wire Co., Ltd, and Chongqing Xiyuan Camshaft Co., Ltd..

All the six Chongqing enterprises said that they benefited a lot from the gap analysis since it is a good chance for them to know better about themselves, and they will make continuous improvement on the shortages identified during the analysis. An analysis report for each company will be given to SPX-CQ by the expert team. SPX-CQ will pass the report to the companies and at the same time some improvement recommendations will be raised up. DaimlerChrysler and Ford Motor Company will also decide which supplier could enter into OEM supply chain according to the analysis result and the recommendation from AIAG experts.
