Grainger Supplier Pre-selection Project

Grainger, Inc. is the leading broad line supplier of facilities maintenance products serving businesses and institutions in the world. Through a highly integrated network including nearly 600 branches, 18 distribution centers and multiple Web sites, Grainger's employees help customers get the job done, saving them time and money by having the right products to keep their facilities running. With more than 17,000 employees, Grainger is a Fortune 500 company and was named to Fortune magazine's list of America's Most Admired Companies.

In March 2008, the Director of Overseas Procurement of Grainger, the chiefs of Shanghai Procurement Office and Hong Kong Procurement Office visited SPX-CQ, and indicated cooperative intents. In July 2008, Grainger entrusted SPX-CQ to implement the Grainger Supplier Pre-selection Project and recommend potential suppliers for cooperation.

After analyzing the Grainger's requirements, SPX-CQ searched in its supplier database and selected 14 suppliers in Chongqing and nearby regions for the project. A project introduction meeting was held by SPX-CQ to help the suppliers to get a full understanding of the Grainger's procurement plan and requirements.

In August Grainger received the first shortlist of potential suppliers. After assessment, Grainger confirmed all of the suppliers recommended by SPX-CQ were qualified, and asked SPX-CQ to assist the suppliers in quoting. At present, SPX-CQ is collecting the suppliers' quotation.
